About Captain Dan - Owner
1. Early Passion Sparked by a King Salmon: Captain Dan’s love for fishing ignited as a child when he saw a King Salmon at Michigan’s “Fish Town.” This encounter inspired him to pursue salmon fishing even before catching his first fish.
2. Impressive Personal Catches: Over the years, Captain Dan has achieved notable catches, including a 30-pound salmon and a 14-pound steelhead. One of his clients even landed a remarkable 62-inch sturgeon under his guidance.
3. Guiding Across Michigan’s Waters: Captain Dan operates guided fishing trips throughout Michigan, from the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair to the rivers and lakes of Northwest Michigan. He adjusts his locations seasonally to follow fish migrations, ensuring optimal fishing experiences.
4. Unique Path to Guiding: When asked how he began his guiding career, Captain Dan humorously replied, “Couldn’t get a real job so I started river guiding,” highlighting his dedication to turning passion into profession.
5. Personal Interests Beyond Fishing: Beyond his fishing endeavors, Captain Dan is a co-owner of Blissful Vacation, enjoys photography, and is an avid hunter, particularly passionate about whitetail deer hunting.
